East Asia Super League round 1 best performance: Rayshaun Hammonds (by Hoops Agents)

American Center Rayshaun Hammonds (206-C-1998) had an amazing evening in the last round for top-ranked Suwon KT Sonicboom, receiving a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 1.
The 26-year old player had a double-double of 39 points and 14 rebounds, while his team beat SM Beermen (#5, 0-1), the league's bottom-ranked team 87-81. It allowed Sonicboom to take over top position in the East Asia Super League. But it's just the very beginning of the season and Suwon KT won just one (their first) game. It's too early to say anything as the standings can be changed completely after next round. Hammonds turned to be Sonicboom's top player in his first season with the team. Former University of Georgia star has very solid stats this year. Hammonds is league's best scorer averaging so far 39.0ppg. Hammonds is in league's top in rebounds (2nd best: 14.0rpg).

The second best player in last round's games was young Nigerian E.J. Anosike (199-G/F-1998) of San Miguel Beermen. Anosike had a very good evening with 34 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Bad luck as Beermen lost that game 81-87 to Suwon KT (1-0). The season is still at the very beginning and this lost game may not be such crucial, of course if they start win the games. Let's wait for the next round. Anosike is a newcomer at SM Beermen, but is already one of team's top players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 34.0ppg (#2). His other stats are also decent: 7.0rpg and 4.0apg.

Third on the list of top players last round was American Will Artino (211-C/F-1992) of Macau Black Bears (#5). Artino scored 23 points and grabbed 14 rebounds (!!!). Despite Artino's great performance the Macau lost 85-97 to Meralco Bolts (#1, 1-0). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. The season just started for Artino as he played only first game. But it already looks like he can be team's leader.

8. Chris Newsome (187-G-1990) of Meralco Bolts - 18 points, 3 rebounds and 6 assists
9. Damian Chong-Qui (173-PG-1998) of Macau - 21 points, 3 rebounds and 4 assists
10. Kakou Kouame (208-C-1997) of Meralco Bolts - 9 points and 9 rebounds
